Desert Ascension 1 Q | In this work the vastness of the desert merges with the ethereal pulse of modern light. Inspired by Caspar David Friedrich’s meditations on solitude and James Turrell’s luminous dreamscapes, the work piece transforms emptiness into transcendence. Its minimalist composition and mystical atmosphere evoke the timeless solitude seen in Friedrichs "Monk by the Sea" (1808-1810), where the vast expanse of nature underscores human vulnerability. The vibrant neon hues, however, reimagine Friedrich's naturalist melancholy, bringing to mind the futurism of Turrell’s light installations, which explore perception and transcendence through illuminated spaces. The fusion of stark natural surroundings with glowing, otherworldly elements reflects a dialogue between tradition and modernity, merging spiritual stillness with technological wonder.
